Lance-A-Little

Introduction
Lance-A-Little is my first game that is entirely my own. It’s not an expansion to an existing product, it’s not tied to a preexisting IP, it’s my own original idea from the ground up. This project was the culmination of my time as a Master’s student at Michigan State University and served as my capstone project, the thing that ultimately led to my Master’s Degree.
I like to refer to the game as fantasy themed, comedy focused. It’s a party game for 2-5 players where players purchases unusual mounts, weapons, and shields in a race to see who can be the first to obtain 20 gold and the title of Grand Champion.
In addition to creating the game from the ground up I also was responsible for the graphic design of cards, as well as locating artist and providing them appropriate briefs in order to make sure that the game I pictured would come to life on the tabletop.
In total the game includes over 100+ unique cards all with their own art and text. Below you will find a small selection of some of the game pieces.

Camelot is the central hub of the game and provides a number of useful charts and rule reminders to avoid having players constantly scanning the rules sheet.

Each player starts the game with a standard player board that includes their starting equipment. As the game progresses players may purchase new equipment which covers one of the three slots on the board.

Cards with a red background are Tier 1 equipment and are available at the start of the game. These have low power level effects, this mount in particular has a flat starting total of 0, indicated in the top right. Most mounts will have dice that are rolled to determine the starting total.

Equipment with yellow backgrounds are Tier 2 and become available for purchase in the middling of rounds of the game. These are more expensive but have stronger effects than Tier 1s. You can see the cost in red on the coin in the top left, while the green number below indicates the trade in value.

Cards with a green background are Tier 3 cards that are the most expensive but are typically the strongest, with the most unusual effects. This card is one of the strangest examples in the game.

Cards with a blue background are Event cards which are single use events that can directly impact the outcomes of jousts, even those you aren't participating in! Events are the means through which players can participate outside of their own turns.

These cards determine which players take place in jousts. This keeps player particpation about equal, and prevents players from getting too far ahead.
